Nowadays, one of the most important aspects when deciding whether or not to accept a company's proposal is the benefits offered by the company when hiring. According to the CLT (Consolidation of Labour Laws), some of these benefits are actually mandatory.
However, there are companies that offer even more bonuses to the employee, as a strategy to retain the company's talents and satisfy the employees. It is essential that you know your rights to make sure they are guaranteed in your work environment. Therefore, we selected those that are mandatory and those that are optional to help you with that, see:
Mandatory benefits in companies
The benefits that, obligatorily, must be offered by a company, are exposed in the CLT. They are
- FGTS - the Guarantee Fund for Length of Service was created to protect workers who are dismissed without just cause;
- Transport vouchers - to ensure that employees do not spend their own money to get to work;
- Paid holidays - the employee is entitled to 30 days rest and leisure for each full year worked;
- Thirteenth salary - also known as gratuity, or Christmas bonus, is money close to the value of the salary paid to the employee as a bonus.
Optional employee benefits
- Meal Voucher - for companies with more than 300 employees it is mandatory to have an environment where employees can have their meals;
- Medical and dental assistance - when the company offers a health plan, whether with or without coparticipation, there is still an advantage for the employee, as corporate plans are more accessible than individual ones;
- Vale-Cultura (Culture Voucher) - to buy books, exhibitions, cinema, tickets, among others;
- Gym - increasingly valued, since the health of the body directly impacts on the health of the mind and on the performance and personal satisfaction of the employee;
- Auxílio-Farmácia (Pharmacy Aid) - works as an allowance for the purchase of medicines in pharmacies;
- Fuel voucher - to help pay for fuel for those who go to work by car or motorbike.
